The album Christmas at the Renaissance Fair is a huge success. Released in October 2011, the album spent 10 weeks (and counting) as the #1 top selling album in the Renaissance genre at CD Baby and rose to #8 among all holiday albums. Christianity Today magazine gave it 4 stars and called it “The best odd album I’ve heard in years.”
Joe Matzzie produced the album, arranging and re-imagining 14 classic holiday songs in a style that typifies the hybrid of sounds that one hears at Renaissance festivals, bringing together Medieval, traditional Celtic, Middle Eastern, and Renaissance dance music. Featured on the album are instruments as diverse as hurdy gurdy, hammered dulcimer, bladder pipe, sackbut, and lots of percussion. Christmas at the Renaissance Fair was released under the artist name of Moat Jumper, and plans are already underway for a regional tour in December 2012.
