I love playing weddings.
For years I played music at weddings with the Renaissance group Mince Pye.
Here’s a picture from the wedding of Christian and Emily Dugay, which took place on the beach behind Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica CA. The four of us musicians had never played together before but the bride and groom wanted something specific so they contacted our mutual friends Sue and Sean and Sue contacted us. At the bride and groom’s request we played Battle of Evermore by Led Zeppelin as the final recessional. I sang the Robert Plant part and Chris Crumb sang the Sandy Denny part.
It’s always amazing to see how people choose music for their wedding that reflects who they are. Some weddings have classical music like Ave Maria. Some weddings have rock classics. At various weddings I’ve played acoustic renditions of Paranoid by Black Sabbath, Everlong by Foo Fighters. I even played White Wedding once.
What are some of the best songs you’ve heard at wedding ceremonies?
